Mission
Conducting independent audit and evaluation of public sector operations to provide reliable and objective information, and assurance to the Parliament. Our  objectives:-We promote

• Fair accounting of the Government's management of financial and other resources;
  
• Economic, efficient and effective utilization of public sector resources;
  
• Compliance with authority;
  
• Accountability of the Government to the Parliament and the public.

Role of the office of CAG
We audit public accounts of the republic, government agencies, public bodies and public companies having fifty percent or more government owned shares and report to the Parliament. We assist the National Parliament in ensuring accountability of the government.

Public sector auditing in Bangladesh since independence (in 1971) has made a major contribution to the advancement of fiscal propriety and safeguarding of public resources from misuse, wastage and misappropriation. Annual reports issued by this office provide statistics on the recovery and savings of public resources. We act as a deterrent against wastage and misuse of public resources.
